Brewing Instructions and
Storage
Brewing Pu-erh Tea
Start by filling one fifth of the tea pot / mug
with dry tea leaves. Quickly immerse the tea
leaves in near-boiling water, and then discard.
Fill the teapot or mug with near boiling water.
Adjust the length of brewing to your personal
taste. Pu-erh tea should be drunk while hot.
Good Pu-erh tea will have a strong aged flavour
that is smooth to the taste.
Storage of Pu-erh Tea
The storage environment should have a relative
humidity below 85% and the temperature should
neither be too hot or too cold. Avoid direct
sunlight and aim for an airy, clean environment
free of unpleasant odors, as Pu-erh tea will
absorb odors and from the air. The unique
qualities and aged flavours of Pu-erh tea
develop over the long natural oxidation process
that results from storage. The flavour will
continually improve with age. The flavours of
Pu-erh teas are compared with the desired
results of aged vintage wine. Nevertheless, if
stored improperly for long periods, there will
be a decrease in quality. Most new raw teas will
yield a satisfactory quality after 5-10 years of
storage.
